Bird and Fiddleheads by Andrew Daniel

When I lived in Maine it was a seasonal practice to go collecting "Fiddleheads" which were young ferns that had not yet uncoiled and were still tender for saute cooking. I thought of putting them in the back of this little watercolor painting as a little way to remind me of my roots.

I think the bird is a Wren, but I would love to hear from you if you have a better guess.

"White Crowned Sparrow" by Andrew Daniel

This a a painting I made from a great photo my friend Sean McAlpine took. We used to go for lots of hikes with out cameras, when he lived up here. I wanted to make a painting from one of his photos as a way to remember our time together. He has an extensive photographic portfolio on his website.

Pink Rhododendrons by Andrew Daniel

Every year as the flowers start to bloom, I end up painting them, because I love the color and compositional opportunities that they bring. I also really enjoy the process of wandering around my community looking for inspiration! I'm particularly happy with this canvas because of the movement in the brush stoke, there is a certain raw kinetic energy to it.
