"Head of a Ram" painting by Andrew Daniel

"Head of a Ram" oil on Baltic Birch Panel by Andrew Daniel
6" x 5.5" (15cm x 14cm)

I had a little time to paint the other day, but little for inspiration where I was. Finally I found an image in a hunting magazine that somebody left behind. What a great challenge to paint such a majestic animal. The fur had so many subtle earth tone hues.

Pears and Cheese painting by Andrew Daniel

Pears and Cheese oil painting by Andrew Daniel
9" x12" (23cm x 30cm)

Red green and blue, it's so fun to coordinate the colors in a still life! Regretably I spent too long painting this one and I couldn't eat the cheese. The pears were good though!

View of Loleta California painting by Andrew Daniel

View of Loleta oil painting by Andrew Daniel
12" x 11.5" (30cm x 29cm)

I was able to stop along the roadside on my way home from work and take in this lovely scene with the morning sun breaking through the clouds. I returned the following week to put another layer on. It was an interesting challenge painting with so many greens. I really had to work to differentiate the different leaf types.

When I started this painting I was attracted to the curve of the land formations as well as the oranges and yellows offset by the blue of the water.
