Afternoon Light in the Arcata Bottoms painting by Andrew Daniel

Last Saturday, I ran out to catch the afternoon light on the fields by my house. I rarely get to paint at this time of day just as the sun is getting ready to set. The colors are so intense and warm it was so exciting!

This painting measures 5" x 7"(13cm x 18cm) and is painted in oil paint on a piece of Baltic Birch wood panel that measures 1/2" deep. It has a simple homemade slat wood frame.

You can find it for sale in my online shop.

  1. I like this painting a lot, particularly how you handled the warmth and variety of the foreground grasses, as well as the distant buildings. Well done!
