Morning Light on Liscomb Slough

"Morning Light on Liscomb Slough"
12" x 16" (30cm x 40cm) oil on wood
available through First Street Gallery

The morning here in Humboldt is my favorite time to paint. Everything is soft, wet from the mist, slowly waking up, and waiting for the sun to come out.  I was really inspired by the bands of blues and purples, and the oyster beds waiting for their morning maintenance visit.

This piece is going to be in a show dedicated to the theme of the Humboldt Bay at the First Street Gallery in October. Some of our Lost Coast Daily Painters will be represented in the show. Besides myself, there will be bay landscapes from Stock Schlueter, Kathy O'Leary and Mimi Laplant in the back gallery. In the front Gallery Cindy Hooper will have 6 video installations. I know there is also a ceramicist building a large scale model of the bay and a photographer who also is dealing with bay issues.

The opening will be on Saturday October 4th during Arts Alive! from 6-9pm.
